Personal data we collect

We only collect and process information that you give us yourself by:

  • Filling in a form on our site
  • Creating an account on 4x4roadbooks.com
  • Emailing or telephoning us
  • Or contacting us in any other way

For some things we only need your email address and first name, and for some others we need more info.

How we use personal data

In short: we only use your data to send you what you have asked for.
Through our online forms you can:

  • Subscribe to our newsletter
  • Order products
  • Or request information

These are the purposes for which we use your data. We may also contact you for a customer satisfaction survey or to give you information on additional or related products and services.

We may contact you by e-mail, post or phone. Do you prefer that we do not contact you at all? That’s possible: you’ll find all the info you need on that further down the page.

There are also things we explicitly do not do: we will never pass on your details to other organisations. We only use the information internally. In very exceptional situations – so exceptional that it has never happened to us before – a law or court ruling might require us to pass on information. This is the case for every company.

For certain work, we use third-party tools, such as Google Analytics and Mailchimp. These are not ‘third-party recipients’ but processors.
We do not keep the data longer than necessary for the purposes we just described.

Account for holders of a 4×4 access pass

If you buy an 4×4 access pass via 4x4roadbooks.com you will get an account where you can access your online downloads.

For your account, we need this info:

  • First and last name
  • E-mail address: you will receive an e-mail about your order of the 4×4 access pass, invoice and what you buy from us. From time to time you will receive tips about our new roadbooks. And if you have a problem with your order, we can solve it for you via e-mail.
  • Company name & VAT number
  • Address: needed to process your payment

To pay for your order, we use a secure payment environment via MultiSafePay. We never see the payment and bank details ourselves.
You can change the details we do have in your account. Would you like to delete your account? Please send an e-mail to info@4x4roadbooks.com.

Protection of data

The law requires us to implement the necessary security measures. This way we avoid the loss, unauthorised use or alteration of personal data.
Of course, if you have a question about this privacy policy, just email or call us.

Your rights

To us, you are a human being.

For privacy laws, you are a ‘data subject’. And every data subject has the rights below.

Some of them do not really apply to your and our situation (points 6 and 7). However, we are obliged to communicate all these rights to you, so we do.

  1. Access: would you like to know what we store about you? Feel free to give us a call and we will give you access.
  2. Correction: do we have incorrect info about you? An error in your address? In your name? Something else? You have the right to have your data corrected.
  3. Resistance: you want to stay in our database, but you don’t want us to contact you? Tell us. We’ll indicate your contact preference.
  4. Right to restrict processing to mere ‘storage’: this is very similar to the previous point. What’s the difference? In point 3, we will no longer contact you, but we may still process your data (e.g. for analysis). If you invoke this 4th right, we can only store your data (and not use it). Honestly: even without this obligation, we would be crazy to contact you if you don’t want to.
  5. Right to be forgotten: do you want to be completely erased from our database? And not just restrict processing and contact options (rights 3 and 4). Then you must exercise this right. We will then delete you from our database. Note: this is not always the best option: if you are a customer of ours, you’ll find it quite convenient that we know your data. This forget-put option also sometimes creates strange situations: you can reappear in the database later, but because we had to delete you altogether, we cannot remember that you already asked us to be deleted. So it is probably better to use right 3: Resistance.
  6. Right to oppose ‘profiling’ or automated processing of personal data. To be clear: 4x4roadbooks does not apply profiling. If we did, you have the right to ask us not to do that to you or to give you the chance to discuss the effect of that profiling with a real employee.
  7. Data transfer: you may ask us to transfer the data you have given us to you (so that you can share it with another person). This means the data you gave us yourself (e.g. by filling in a contact form).

Do you want to invoke any of the above rights? Just let us know.
You have the right to complain about our privacy policy

We try to comply 100% correctly with the law in our privacy and cookie policy. Do you still have a complaint? Be sure to let us know at info@4x4roadbooks.com or 0032 476 22 16 26.

You also have the right to report it to the Belgian Commission for the Protection of Privacy.
You can find them here: www.privacycommission.be. Or here: Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.
